Edmundo Inácio

Edmundo's blog is attractively presented with a striking layout that reflects the industry he is involved in well. The colour scheme, font and graphic choices alongside the presence of pictures and videos make it a very engaging, interesting blog to navigate through. Edmundo has reflected well on his professional and personal experiences. It is very apparent that he has developed and adapted to his working environment accordingly; especially through respecting the chain of command and changing his mindset on wanting to start his placement as a director.

Some of Edmundo's experiences have been similar to mine, especially when I was working on set for Channel 4. He highlights the importance of networking, maintaining industry relationships and keeping a balanced work/personal life which are all lessons I have learnt this year that I think are important and essential to succeeding.

Daniel Robinson

Daniel Robinson's blog is very easy to navigate due to its layout. Pictures and videos compliment his reflections as they build on documenting his achievements. I was impressed at the amount of opportunities he has taken onboard. Being a member of the team at Twist and Shout whilst producing marketing content for local theatre companies must have been time consuming yet he juggled his responsibilities well, prioritising effectively. He has utilised the professional enhancement year to its fullest potential, developing relationships with industry professionals and clients too. In his final year at University he will have a bank of contacts he can rely on to further support him in his development. Daniel provided in depth reflections, highlighting his main points of learning as well as advice he has embraced in order to better himself and his future. Some of Daniel's experiences are similar to mine: developing marketing skills, learning how to network effectively and acknowledging that being friendly can get you a long way in this industry were pivotal to my development.

Jacob Chilvers

Jacob chose to be an Erasmus student and study abroad in Italy, Milano, for the academic year. Jacob's blog is packed with relevant imagery and videos that work well to showcase his year abroad. Jacob's encountered challenging issues thrown at him with a sensible, practical approach. Considering the changes to his course, the language barriers and the coronavirus lockdown situation, he faced each obstacle with a determined, pragmatic attitude, using each experience as an opportunity to develop and grow. Despite having the chance at completing a journalism course stripped away from him, Jacob utilised his time in self isolation to build on his contacts in England to document his experiences. Although the virus managed to bring his movement around the city to a halt, by reaching out to some media related contacts Jacob managed to complete: six interviews with BBC Radio Leicester, five interviews with BBC East Midlands Today as well as a Skype interview for Fosse 107. Similar to my findings, this highlights that being proactive in networking and building on contacts is an essential skill in the creative industry.
