Beyond Brontës is a scheme run by Screen Yorkshire that offers targeted support to those who are underrepresented and wishing to enter the film/tv industry. The programme includes internships, careers information, one to one support, training and mentoring. My involvement in Beyond Brontes has been extremely beneficial. They have hosted a series of bootcamps (from runners bootcamps to industry professionals bootcamps), skills workshops, group meet ups, activities, placement opportunities and so much more that I will be forever grateful for. The most valuable thing that I have taken from the scheme is the mentoring partnership I have developed (through ScreenSkills) with the amazing producer, Michelle Singer. I contact her frequently through Skype and email and through those platforms she has given me guidance, support and advise whilst sharing her own exciting stories and experiences with me! Not only have I managed to gain lots of worthwhile industry knowledge and contacts from this partnership, but I have developed a lovely friendship with a very talented lady!

She has taught me about many things but most importantly:
- The importance of reaching out to people and utilising social media groups (for example UK runners) to find industry contacts and build on these
- Soft contacting skills
- The persistence and dedication needed to succeed in the creative industry
- The ins and out of freelancing
- The 'next best steps' I should take in order to kickstart my career in the film/tv industry
I hope that I can remain in contact with Michelle throughout my career in film and TV.
